Did I Sign Up For Russia!!!

So before we moved to Laramie I had heard horror stories of crazy Wyoming weather. However, I thought no big deal I grow up in Utah it's not exactly California --it couldn't be that different. Well, my friends I was wrong, I highly underestimated the wind here. It is so cold day and night. A snow storm is not just a regular snow storm it is always a freakin blizzard, because of the wind. The term blowing snow has a whole new meaning here! The other night we had to go out to Walmart and we had Porter in his Russian winter hat, it was so cute.( I don't have the picture loaded yet i will post it later) I thought it would be like Utah, but I am thinking more along the lines of Russia!!! I also can't wait to get home for the holidays and see our families. Hope you all have safe and happy holidays!!!

Little Moments

Tonight I realized how great being a parent truly is, since my little man was born in July I have had alot of those moments. Moments that are really hard to explain, unless you have experienced t for yourself. Recently I have begun to try a new way of putting Porter to bed at night. Since the day he was born I have rocked that boy to sleep, laying him down three or four times before he was out. So I finally decided it was time to teach him to put himself to sleep. Most nights I put him down around 9:oo, tell him I love him, shut off the lights and let him talk or yes cry himself to sleep. But, tonight I just couldn't do it! I rocked him and sang primary songs and Christmas songs to him, and it was so great. I could have held him in my arms all night long. At one point he looked up at me and smiled the most precious smile I have ever seen. It truly is those sweet little moments in life that mean the most. I just want to hold on to them and remember them forever. He is growing so fast, discovering new things everyday, and I know one day I am going to wish I had those little moments back. Sometimes I get so caught up in making sure I don't spoil him to much, that I follow everyone's advice , and that I make sure I am do everything just right, that I miss the important stuff. Tonight was just a really good night I loved every mintue of it.

A mini tree for a mini man

Today I went to Walmart and bought everything I needed for a mini Christmas Tree. This year we won't be at our home for a good share of the holiday season, so a big tree was out. However, I still wanted it to feel like Christmas so a mini tree it is! Here is a picture of my mini man & his dad by our minture Christmas tree.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Chirstmas Tree

While we were back in Utah last weekend we went Christmas tree hunting with the Daniels. It is an annual tradition of their family and it is a lot of fun. We always get up really early and stand in line for our tree tags. This year I opted out on that part because I was a little under the weather and I was too lazy to get Porter up and ready. So Kev was the big man, took one for the team and stood in line without us. Later that day we all got dressed up in our winter clothes and headed up Ephraim Mountain. Porter really loves being up there and so do Kevin and I. This year me and Kevin decided just to help other people get their trees and not to get one for ourselves. I know people will say you have to have a tree it's not Christmas without a tree. However, we won't be at our house for Christmas so I didn't want to put up a real one. Just maybe a small fake one will due for this year. Here are some pics from our Christmas tree hunt!

This is a pic of us not Christmas tree hunting
but with Kevin's Grandparents, we also vistied
them while we were in Utah.

Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving break has come and gone and it was all so much fun. It is so refreshing to spend time with your family and just be at home. This year we had Thanksgiving with the Lloyd clan at Trent and Robyn's house. All twenty-five of us were there and it was a complete mad-house! Nobody does Thanksgiving like my family; we go all out and then some. We had everything from Prime-rib and Turkey to stuffed mushrooms and every salad you could think of. Not to mention grandma's rolls and cheesecake. All the food was so good-thanks to everyone who made it! However, stuffing my face with all the delicious food was not the best part, being with my family was. I really love it when we all get together, I love the laughter, the dumb arguments, and the crazy kids running around - I LOVE IT ALL!!!
