Sunday Thought...Prayer

" Using the Supernal Gift of Prayer," Ensign, May 2007-Richard G. Scott

"It matters not our circumstance, be we humble or arrogant, poor or rich, free or enslaved, learned or ignorant, loved or forsaken, we can address Him. We need no appointment. Our solicitation can be brief or can occupy all the time needed. It can be an extended expression of love and gratitude or an urgent plea for help. He has created numberless cosmos and populated them with worlds, yet you and I can talk with Him personally, and He will ever answer."

Happy Birthday Little Man.........

I know what your all thinking another cheesy mom posting about her kid on their birthday! Well, your right today is Porter Lynn's A.K.A. Little Man's second birthday!

Porter at Two:

* He is still a little man, weighing in at around 18 pounds

* His vocabulary has really taken off, he repeats everything (good and bad), it is fun to have small conversations with him.

* When you ask him what is name is he says, " Porter Rockwell!"

* He gets the concept of counting, but doesn't always get the numbers right "1,2,3,4,6,4,6,4,6..."

* He is completely obsessed with cars and motorcycles!

*He loves to dance

* He thinks everything is his, and over uses the phrase, "MINE!"

*He loves to read and loves our weekly visits to story time at the library

* He runs and does his own version of jumping

* If you shake his hand you better be prepared to wrestle

Sunday Thought.....

I haven't done one of these in awhile, but I would like to start again! If you have not read/listened to President Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk given at the April General Conference, entitled Continue in Patience's, you really need to! Here are a few of my favorite quotes from his talk.

-1. " Patience-the ability to put OUR DESIRES ON HOLD FOR A TIME- IS A PRECIOUS AND RARE VIRTUE. " ....... " Without, patience, we can't please God;we can't become perfect. Indeed, patience is a purifying process that refines understanding, deepens happiness, focuses action, and offers hope for peace." .... " If children are ever going to mature and reach their potential, they must learn to wait!"

2. "..... From that experience, I learned that patience was far more that simply waiting for something to happen-patience required actively working toward worthwhile goals and not getting discouraged when results didn't appear instantly or without effort." ...."Patience is not passive resignation, nor is it failing to act because of our fears. Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something and doing all that we can-working, hoping, exercising faith, bearing hardship with fortitude, even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. Patience is not simply enduring;it is enduring well."

3. ....." I know for sure that the promises of the Lord, if perhaps not always swift, are always certain."

4.. " Often the deep valleys of our present will be understood only by looking back on them from the mountains of our future experience. Often we can not see the Lord's hand in our lives until long after trails have passes. Often the most difficult times of our lives are essential building blocks that form the foundation of our character and pave the way to future opportunity, understanding, and happiness."

5. " Patience means staying with something until the end. It means delaying immediate gratification for future blessings. It means reining in anger and holding back the unkind word. It means resisting evil, even when it appears to be making others rich. Patience means accepting that which cannot be changed and facing it with courage, grace, and faith. It means being " willing to submit to all thing which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon us, even as a child doth submit to his father."

Best Dance...

Enjoy this was such a great dance!!!

In other random news....

Today, I thought I would let Porter discover the wonderful world that is playdough! I wanted to make a dough that would give him lots of sensory time so I looked on the Internet and found a recipe for oatmeal playdough! I think it turned out pretty good and is a really good one for toddlers, because it is OK to eat it. Here is the recipe if you want it:

1 cup flour
2 cups oatmeal
1 cup water
a pinch of cornmeal

-Knead with hands

-It is a little sticky so don't be alarmed!

Porter really loved it and had lots of fun! I think we will defiantly use this again.

Our Fourth of July Weekend in Pictures.....

First, we start with camping!!!

Which means lots of sitting around the campfire.....

A couple mean games of Volleyball....both at which I sucked at....

A heated game of mountain kickball....

Lots of four-wheeler rides.....

Walks with Grandma and McKay......

Then we went down into town for Richfields fourth of July festivities! I had never been to Richfields before, because Aurora does so much. But, it was fun to go to a different one and watch Porter have so much fun with Paislee.

We went to the parade and caught lots of candy.....

We played in the pool with Paislee ....

We went to the fireworks with the Lloyds and the Alvey's....

The fourth is such a great holiday and this year was no different! We had tones of fun and we are so glad we got to spend it with our families.
