Did I Sign Up For Russia!!!

So before we moved to Laramie I had heard horror stories of crazy Wyoming weather. However, I thought no big deal I grow up in Utah it's not exactly California --it couldn't be that different. Well, my friends I was wrong, I highly underestimated the wind here. It is so cold day and night. A snow storm is not just a regular snow storm it is always a freakin blizzard, because of the wind. The term blowing snow has a whole new meaning here! The other night we had to go out to Walmart and we had Porter in his Russian winter hat, it was so cute.( I don't have the picture loaded yet i will post it later) I thought it would be like Utah, but I am thinking more along the lines of Russia!!! I also can't wait to get home for the holidays and see our families. Hope you all have safe and happy holidays!!!

Little Moments

Tonight I realized how great being a parent truly is, since my little man was born in July I have had alot of those moments. Moments that are really hard to explain, unless you have experienced t for yourself. Recently I have begun to try a new way of putting Porter to bed at night. Since the day he was born I have rocked that boy to sleep, laying him down three or four times before he was out. So I finally decided it was time to teach him to put himself to sleep. Most nights I put him down around 9:oo, tell him I love him, shut off the lights and let him talk or yes cry himself to sleep. But, tonight I just couldn't do it! I rocked him and sang primary songs and Christmas songs to him, and it was so great. I could have held him in my arms all night long. At one point he looked up at me and smiled the most precious smile I have ever seen. It truly is those sweet little moments in life that mean the most. I just want to hold on to them and remember them forever. He is growing so fast, discovering new things everyday, and I know one day I am going to wish I had those little moments back. Sometimes I get so caught up in making sure I don't spoil him to much, that I follow everyone's advice , and that I make sure I am do everything just right, that I miss the important stuff. Tonight was just a really good night I loved every mintue of it.

A mini tree for a mini man

Today I went to Walmart and bought everything I needed for a mini Christmas Tree. This year we won't be at our home for a good share of the holiday season, so a big tree was out. However, I still wanted it to feel like Christmas so a mini tree it is! Here is a picture of my mini man & his dad by our minture Christmas tree.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Chirstmas Tree

While we were back in Utah last weekend we went Christmas tree hunting with the Daniels. It is an annual tradition of their family and it is a lot of fun. We always get up really early and stand in line for our tree tags. This year I opted out on that part because I was a little under the weather and I was too lazy to get Porter up and ready. So Kev was the big man, took one for the team and stood in line without us. Later that day we all got dressed up in our winter clothes and headed up Ephraim Mountain. Porter really loves being up there and so do Kevin and I. This year me and Kevin decided just to help other people get their trees and not to get one for ourselves. I know people will say you have to have a tree it's not Christmas without a tree. However, we won't be at our house for Christmas so I didn't want to put up a real one. Just maybe a small fake one will due for this year. Here are some pics from our Christmas tree hunt!

This is a pic of us not Christmas tree hunting
but with Kevin's Grandparents, we also vistied
them while we were in Utah.

Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving break has come and gone and it was all so much fun. It is so refreshing to spend time with your family and just be at home. This year we had Thanksgiving with the Lloyd clan at Trent and Robyn's house. All twenty-five of us were there and it was a complete mad-house! Nobody does Thanksgiving like my family; we go all out and then some. We had everything from Prime-rib and Turkey to stuffed mushrooms and every salad you could think of. Not to mention grandma's rolls and cheesecake. All the food was so good-thanks to everyone who made it! However, stuffing my face with all the delicious food was not the best part, being with my family was. I really love it when we all get together, I love the laughter, the dumb arguments, and the crazy kids running around - I LOVE IT ALL!!!

RAIDERS WIN!

Ever since my brother Chad was a little kid he has been in love with the Raiders and football! Well, he taught me to love the game and the Raiders too. I have been a fan of both the game and the team for a long time. When Chad and I were younger we use to set on the coach every Sunday and watch the game. When the Raiders scored we would give eachother high -fives with our feet, good times! Well, this past weekend I finally had the chance to go to my first NFL football game at Invesco Field in Denver. It just so happened that my first NFL game also got to be the first time I watched my favorite team the Raiders live. Kevin's three young cousins flew in and spent the weekend with us and joined us at the game. Despite the fact that today my house looks like a "MAN CAVE," it has been really fun to have them here. Yesterday, we got up early and went to Denver to watch the game. It was so much fun and excititng to be there. I was also pleseantly suprised to see my team win! All and all it was such a fun experience, I will definatly do it again. The only way it could have possiable been better is if my brother could have joined us! Oh well there is always next year.
* Some of my favorite qoutes of the game-courtsey of the fans
1. " We suck but we don't suck today"- given by a crazy Raiders fan
2. " Get it together Broncos, you are loosing to a college team."- given by very angry Broncos Fan
* Some of my favorite moments of the game
1. The punt return for a touchdown by the Raiders
2. The fought that broke out between a Raiders fan and a Broncos fan (both girls) almost turned into a fist fight!
3. The three drunks that charged the field and got tackled by security-and then they all did the funniest dances as they were taken off the field.
4.The look on the Broncos fans that were surronding me when I was screaming like crazy everytime the Raiders took it down the field for a touchdown

The adventures of Motherhood!

Oh the adventures of motherhood, it is a crazy road and everyday is a new experience. Today has just been one of those days. You know one of those days when you get every bodily function spewed on you. When you go from laughing to wanting to pull your hair out all in the span of a few mintues. One of those days when you look at the clock and realize it is almost 1:30 and you are still in your p.j.'s and your hair is a crazy mess. One of those days when you forget to eat, and trust me I don't forget to eat very often(food is my favorite.) However, now that the sweet little angel is finally taking his nap that should have happened at 10:30 I realize how completly lucky I am to have him. You know it took me a while to get pregnant it was a rough road with some disappointments along the way. But, I would go through it all again in a heartbeat for him. His little smile lights up a room and his laugh melts my heart. It sounds so cheesy I am sure, but Porter is such a blessing to Kevin and I. The other day Kevin asked me if I had blogged lately, and I replied no my life is not that exciting. His response made me think he said, " are you kidding me you get to spend everyday with Porter and watch him grow and develop." Sometimes I will admit I get a little down when I see my friends I graduated with have their own classes and are teachers. I sometimes wish I could be doing that, however when I stop and think about it, I wouldn't change this year for anything. I love being with my little man everyday and seeing him learn and discover new things!! It's all worth it when at the end of a day like today, your rocking him in your arms and he looks up and you and smiles. It is the greatest feeling in the world! My dad always told me that one day I would get it, well Dad I finally got it!!!

10-0

Last Night was the Utes vs. TCU game, Porter and his daddy had a manly night of watching the game together. Porter was awake for most of it, but just couldn't last. However, you better believe Kevin and I did, that game was a nail-bitter. It was a crazy ending, but an exciting one. I have to say that football makes men do some crazy crap! Watching Kevin in those last few mintues of the game was so funny! I should have recorded it. GO UTES 10-0!!!

Just for my Mom

Porter just wanted to say HI GRAMMIE, I LOVE U!!!
One of the main reason's I do this whole blog thing is so my family can watch Porter grow and keep updated on our daily lives. My mom loves looking at my blog and seeing pictures of Porter. Today we just wanted to drop a little line to Grammie and tell her and Grandpa how much we love and miss them. Plus we bought Porter this killer p.j.'s that he looked adorable in and we just like showing off our little guy! P.S. Just want to remind everyone to get out and vote today. It is a really important election for our country so GET OUT AND VOTE! For me personal I think McCain in the man for the job, he has my vote. I realize that not everyone who reads my blog would agree that's your right. So get out and exercise that right today and VOTE!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

This is Porter and Mommy in our festive Halloween shirts!
For those of you who know me well you all know that I love Halloween. Maybe it's because my birthday is the day before or its just the fact that you can dress up like a crazy idoit and it's perfectly exceptable. I don't know but whatever the reason I love it. However, it was even more fun this year with Porter and we had a great day. We had so much fun dressing Porter up as a Tiger, we took him to Walmart were they had a little Halloween thing going on and everyone thought he was so adorable. However, people kept saying oh how cute Tigger, well we didn't want people to think he was tigger. So my husband came up with the idea to upgrade his custome. We went and got a mini box of frosted flakes and superglued it to his custome, so he then became Tony the Tiger- it was so funny. That night some of our friends from the lawschool all got together and had a little Halloween Party. It was a good day and a good first Halloween for Porter. P.S. Does anyone else agree that it is stupid people don't go door to door anymore? That's what Halloween is all about, and that was what was fun for me as a kid.

Thanks to my sweet husband!!!

THANKS KEV

I just want to start out by saying I really have the greatest, most thoughtful husband in the whole world!!! He always puts so much thought into special days and makes them as wonderful for me as possiable. Every birthday and anniversary I have had since we have been married has been wonderful! Yesterday, was my twenty-fourth birthday and again Kevin made it a great day. Kev always wakes up at the butt crack of dawn to study-and so when Porter woke up Kev went and got him and they came in our room and sang me happy birthday. Then they gave me my presents which he always puts so much thought into. First, him and Porter know how much I love my trash mags. Yes, you heard me I love trash mags!! So kev and porter got me a years subscribtion to US WEEKLY, it was so funny I had to laugh. Then he also gave me a gift certificate to a local craft store that I love, and a new outfit for Sunday. Then to top it off he got sparkiling cidar and made the sweetest toast to me on my 24th b-day!!! Later that night we enjoyed a good dinner and went to a movie ALONE!! Thanks so much to our friends Mitch and Patti for watching Porter so we could go out! Kevin devoted so much of the day to me that he had to stay up way late to study last night. Anyway I just want to take this opportunity to thank Kevin so much for yesterday, it was a great b-day. I also want to thank him for always being a great husband, father, support system, and above all best friend. He works so hard for our little family, and tries his hardest to give us the best life! He is the greatest, I don't know what I did to deserve someone as great as him. Thanks Kevin-I LOVE YOU

This is the big, giant card Porter and Kevin gave me

Shout Out to Chad, Amanda, and Paislee

Since we live away from all of our family they don't get to see Porter on a daily bases. So I just wanted Porter's Uncle Chad, Aunt Amanda, and cousin Paislee to see Porter in the Jazz shirt they got him. It is still a little big, but we wanted to wear it anyway. They got it for him when he was born and it looks so cute on him. Thanks guys- Porter

Home Sweet Home

We Dressed Porter and his cousin Mckay up in their Halloween customes so cute!!

This past week we had the chance to go back to Utah for the week and enjoy being surronded by our families. We left last friday and drove the seven hours to Ephraim, to join up with Kev's family for the opening weekend of the deer hunt. Porter did so good on the ride down, until we got to Provo and then the kid had, had enough. The weather for the deer hunt was so good, so we took Porter up on his first hunt. Him and his cousin Mckay loved the bumpy roads and fresh hour only found in the mountains. And Porter's daddy loved having his son up there with him!! The Daniels had a pretty good hunt, shoting three deer. I enjoyed riding around in the mountains, I love it up there. After the weekend was over me and Porter went to Aurora to spend time with my family and Kevin went back to Laramie for school. It was hard to be away from eachother for so long, but it was so nice to be in Aurora with my parents. Unfortunely I didn't get to see my brothers and sisters, because they were all sick. However, I just enjoyed so much being with my mom, dad, and my grandma. It was such a fun trip and it was so great to see everyone -but it is always nice to be home again to!!
